Tethered USB camera not waking up computer.

I have a tethering camera shooting situation where I want my nikon d200 (but i imagine the camera itself does not matter) connected via USB to shoot images to a tethering app, which it does perfectly (Ive used nikon camera control pro and SmartShooter App), display the image (does this too) and then after 15 second or so start the screen saver.....UNTIL another image is shot from the camera, stopping the screen saver and showing the new image again for the 15 seconds or so, back to the screen saver if everything is idol (no new pictures taken). I have everything working BUT the camera connected via USB does not wake up the computer. I connect a mouse to the same port and wakes up fine. How can this camera activity be registered by the machine to wake? It just works (shoots the image) and when i hit a key its there but it never woke up the computer!?? The usb seems to work fine but it doesnt register the activity for some reason. Can I Applescript something? I currectly have an applescript for the login to start the screen saver in 15 seconds of inactivity. cant figure this out. Using a macbook pro OS 10.6.6

The USB action of the tethered camera just doesnt wake the computer from the screen saver. (its not actually asleep- just on screen saver mode). Almost anything else connected..Ie. mouse, bluetooth mouse, scanner, trackpad, etc.) will wake it out of screen saver mode EXCEPT the tethered SLR. Pictures taken with it show up so it is working only after I hit the space bar or something. Is there an applescript that will wake up on any USB activity? Any help greatly appreciated.
