Adobe reworking the interface of FrameMaker to make it easier for non-tech writer,, lowering its price to $99, and sell it against MS Word.

FrameMaker is just better than Word: more stable, easier for large documents, generates far better PDF, more style... so with the right price it may become the one that succeeds in taking some market shares to the veteran. Word is not bad, it's just old.

100% true, I agree. I did a complete layout ready for press with FM some time ago. The publisher required special specifications that Word was simply unable to meet.

sadly, it seems that FrameMaker won't make it into a next generation. this can change, but right now, adobe has no plans on evolving the application to the x-generation.

They simply don't market FrameMaker... and they don't push PageMaker neither. They only live on their graphic background, plus some web added value small apps. Probably they lost some self-confidence.

But they can win if they fight.
