The Gimp

Hello,

I've seen that "The Gimp" exists also for Mac.
I read a "how to install it", it was not understandible for me (one must install so many other things, and compile the source, ... etc ...) that I decided not to start the adventure.

Does anybody know a lite version for the Gimp ?
A version easy to install easy to use ?

Thank you.

If you mean Gimp print then ye I've installed it. Had to install one other thing 1st but apart from that it was ok.

I'm pretty sure he means "The Gimp" - an open-source photo editting program.

And although I don't know how to answer your question, I can tell you that, to my knowledge, the How To forum isn't for questions, just answers. Try Unix & X11 forum.

I recommend going to http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/ for more information. I have GIMP.app installed, and it was quite Painless to install. I have it running with Apples X11.app, and have no problems. Not as Elegant as PhotoShop or Corel Painter, but at least it doesn't use Carbon. (I don't like Carbon Apps)

Another relatively easy way is to use fink - takes a while because it compiles everything from scratch, but it handles all the dependencies for you in the right order.

Thank you ...

as I can see on som eforum it's not allways easy to install "The GIMP" (photo editing soft).

I'm looking for a soft (freeware) which allows to resize my photos ...
something very simple and easy to use.

Can iPhoto do that ? I'm not sure !!!

GraphicConverter is a shareware and the part of it that you can use without license is already very good. It will do the job.

This is starting to get Off Topic "Unix & X11"

EasyCrop by YellowMug Software is shareware that can crop, rescale, rotate, etc an image. The interface is very intuitive once you comprehend the graphical nature.

The only 100% free alternative in Panther is to use AppleScript, which can be a bit confusing.

iPhoto can export resized images but i think you have to keep the same aspect ratio.
