For some reason, the Macintosh HD icon keeps moving to the bottom right corner of the screen every time the computer is rebooted. Any idea what the deal is? Setting?

It seems you Safari Preferences (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist) and then upon a restart, before you launch any program go to the Finder Menu and set the Preferences to the way you want them.

The HD icon will jump somewhere else if there are any other icons close to it on bootup. Move all of the nearby icons a substantial distance away, reboot, and see if the problem goes away.

This is such an annoying feature, especially if you have multiple drives and don't keep the cleanest desktop. ;)

Do you know if there is a way to pin mounted volumes down?

That was it. Thanks!

I would like to pin down the place that a mounted volume sits. When I open my Firewire HD with its 4 partitions they get randomly scattered over the screen......
