I heard of this show from several places and seen it once or twice. I was hoping to get some opinions on this show. Is it worth watching for a new Mac user?

It's a decent show, and one of the hosts (Leo Laporte) uses an iBook. The show covers more Windoze stuff with limited coverage of Linux, and Mac stuff. All in all it's still interesting.

I watch it all the time. It's a great show, but yes, there is limited Mac coverage. Mostly Windows. But great stuff nonetheless.

In general I would have to agree that it is an interesting show, although I have only seen it a couple of times. Beware their mac advice, though. In this one episode I watched, a lady with a titanium Powerbook called up asking how to install an airport card. They started out well enough, with the one guy showing her how it works on the iBook, and stating the assumption that it wouild be essentially similar on the powerbook, which is correct. While he was doing this, the other guy was looking on the web. Then everything went downhill as the guy who was looking on the web found a diagram of of the powerbook with its botom cover removed. The final advice they gave the lady was that apparently you have to remove the bottom cover of the powerbook to install the airport card, which is not only wrong, but for a novice user as this woman obviously was, it could be dangerous to the health of the computer. My confidence level in their knowledge of Mac computers went WAY down after that. It can still be fun to watch though, just take anything they say about Macs with a grain of salt and a healthy dose of common sense :)

Why not write to them and explain how their advice is faulty?

Also, what station is this show on?

I was watching on TechTV. And at this point, the show I saw was long enough ago that writing to thhem probably wouldn't do any good. Especially since I only have the one example of bad advice, I can't point to a trend. :)

They also have message boards at the web site, so you could mention it there. But I think they all have email addresses that are made known on the show for writing to them. Try that.
