Hello, this Antonino from Italy, and I just registered to your interesting website;

my question for today is:
I have a network hard disk connected to my Airport Extreme base, which works perfectly, it mounts on the desktop, can copy and delete files, and so on;
on iTunes Preferences, tab Sharing, I selected "Share my library on my local network",
now, when I click on my network hard disk name in the SHARED field, it appears this window:

The shared library "mynetworkHD" is not responding. (-3260)

Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689.

I don't use any firewall software, and I don't know where to find this port 3689.
In the System Preferences, Sharing, i selected only the two voices: File Sharing and Printer Sharing;

thank you for support,
Antonino_

Well first of all bookmark the page (if you wonder about ports) "Well Known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products.

To open ports on an Airport Extreme router follow the steps:

1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Airport Utility
2. When Airport Utility launches select your Airport Extreme and then select "Manual Setup".
3. Select the "Internet" tab then select "NAT" tab.
4. Open the desired port there.

Good Luck.
