the sims hot date

I am having absolutely no luck with adding user-made skins into the sims hot date. Everytime i try to access the skins in the game, the game crashes.
I used to have OS9.1 and with that system you would just use "namer" or "skin shrinker" to change the skins into less than 31 character names. But now that OSX (10.2.4) supports filenames that are more than 31 characters, the game crashes because it does NOT support more than 31 charater file names and skinshrinker has no effect.
Can anyone help me?!

from what my mother has told me (a sim freak!!!) it isn't easy to install a skin i'll try and get back to you soon though
