Steve: "Hi. We have quite a few things to talk about today. So let's get right into it. You've probably heard a lot of rumours in the past few weeks - and some of them are true. Today, we are saying goodbye to the PowerPC line of processors. We're introducing Jaguar, which will be available - as of today - for 159$ for both the now obsolete Macintosh computers with G3 and G4 processors, as well as for the X86 platform."
(Imagine some rumbling and mumbling across the audience...)
Steve: "We're also introducing our new hardware lineup. Let's start at the low end. Here's the iBook, the iMac and the eMac, which have all been selling quite well in the last few weeks. The iBook is available with AMD Duron processors at 1.2 GHz. And it's running Photoshop 7 faster than the previous model with a G3 at 700 MHz. The iMac and eMac are both using an AMD Duron processor at 1.5 GHz. And we're talking _real_ MHz here."
(Laughter from the audience.)
Steve: "Now let's look at the professional lines. First the portables: We have two models: The mid-end model uses an AMD Duron running at 1.6 GHz and the high-end model uses an Intel P4 Mobile running at 2.2 GHz. Now on to the towers. We have an all new enclosure, which we like to call the 'TiMac'. Doesn't it look a bit like a blown up Titanium PowerBook? Right! It's available in the following configurations: AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz, AMD Athlon 2.0 GHz and the top end is using an Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 2.4 GHz. We will take a look into dual processor configurations at the beginning of next year. We'll also have Mac OS X for PocketPC ready by that time. See you in San Francisco, goodbye!"
...
Steve: "Oh, and one more thing: I'll be back in five minutes with the real keynote address."
(Some Mac fanatics are brought to the hospital with heart attacks.)
