Thunderbird and Mail

I've started to use Mozilla Thunderbird and really like it so I want to import all my mail from 'mail', is their anyway of doing this?

Also anyone else use Thunderbird as I'd like some opinions before I make it my default mail client.

By The Way, I use Thunderbird on my PC and it seems to be pretty stable and fast. I would use it over Outlook Express (I am currently using a PC, planning to get an eMac after Christmas if the prices drop. I want to get away from Windows PCs).
