Hello,
I have a Titanium dvi powerbook which wont boot at all, basically I carefully replaced the sceen as it had shattered, now the powerbook simply boots to a grey screen, no apple logo, nothing, (same scenario when trying to boot from a cd!) It seems to me that the LVDS (?) cable isn't sending the data through, I figured I must have damaged the sensitive connector when installing the new screen!
However, I took another dvi powerbook and put them back to back, I then hooked the screen that I thought I'd broken the LVDS cable on up to see if my prediction was right, but it worked?? (Basically I had the two powerbooks showing each other's display, the one that booted grey and the one that worked simply changed over.)
Now I'm totally confused, I tried switching the optical drive/modem/inverter sections of the two dvi powerbooks over, but that didn't change anything. (So far then the display, display cables and inverter board all seem ok?) I can't think of anything left to try? After installing the new screen I reset the PMU, Pram and have tried holding r to reset the screen, but can't really tell if I've done this correctly, it didn't seem to change anything!
After turning on the book, it chimes, lights up grey, but then doesn't move on to any other screen, no logos, etc, although after its left to boot up I can adjust the brightness of the display and change the volume of the book all as normal.
I guess the logic board could have developed a fault or something, but surely this would have a more devistating effect on the screen, such as it staying off and not being responsive to the brightness buttons, etc?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated,
Many thanks,
Jon Marshall
