Tiger ethernet network grief

I have 4 items interconnected on an ethernet network: a G4 running tiger, a G4 laptop running panther, a Canon Pixma ip4000r printer and a WildBlue satellite dish router.

All the addresses are DHCP, automatic.

The G4 and the laptop both see Wildblue most of the time. The laptop sees the printer, but the G4 cannot.

How can I set up the internet addresses manually so both computers always see the printer without screwingl up my satellite dish router connection?

I've spent at least 10 hours on this, help!

Sorry, I didn't include that information. All the IP addresses are unique, because they are currently selected automatically, or specified by the server computer or peripheral. As a result some are not numerically on the same local network, but can be looked up as a benefit of Rendezvous or its equivalent on 10.4 What I would like to know is how to manually specify them all without screwing things up so that (I would hope) they're easier for the two computers to find.

BTW, the G4 already finds the laptop automatically using the afp://xxx.local address.
