I have some Macs running OS X 10.4.8 on a Windows 2003 Server network. The Macs are bound to the domain using SMB/CIFS but users are accessing the shared directories via AFP (for a number of reasons).
All works fine but one thing bothers me. My error logs on the Win2K3 server tell me the Macs keep trying to log into the server using the "Guest" account (which is disabled). As stated, the Mac users are logged in with usernames and passwords and have no trouble and accessing file and print sharing services as would be expected.
Anyone know what goes on in the Mac that makes it try to log in to the server using the Guest account? Something in the background not happy?
