Tiger Printing to HP Photosmart 1315

I just bought a Mac Mini and installed Tiger w/ no problems. Love it!
Then I tried to reattach my peripherals - no luck.

I have the printer hooked up via USB, I have installed the latest driver from HP, but that doesn't show up in any of the printer config menus. I have tried both gimp drivers 1000 and 1100 and neither work.

The printer monitor always shows - "Generic class: waiting for device to respond"

I had the same problem, and clicked More Printers... at the bottom of the Print Browser window. I used the selector bar in the Printer Browser that appeared to select "hp photosmart", and the printer driver I just downloaded (HP Photosmart 2.5.6) appeared. I selected that and it was added as a Photosmart 1315, and my first test print from Safari printed fine. Hope this helps.
