**** SOLVED ****
I partitioned the external drive and backed up to the new partition, and voila! The backup works! Even backing up to a USB drive connected to my Airport Extreme!
I recently upgraded to Lion, and now I'm having problems with Time Machine. When the backup starts I get the message:

I recently upgraded to Lion, and now I'm having problems with Time Machine. When the backup starts I get the message:
Code:
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume Lion[\code]
Then every 60 seconds thereafter I get this message:
[code]Waiting for index to be ready (100)[\code]
I have done many backups on the destination drive before, but they were all from Snow Leopard. Does anyone know if you can't store Lion backups in the same sparsebundle file as Snow Leopard backups? I'm assuming I'll have to repartition the destination drive, and create a Lion-only backup partition. I'd just like to hear some opinions before I do it to make sure I'm not wasting my time.
