tired of itunes... what else should i try?

i'm looking to delete itunes. its too restrictive when i want to trade files between computers. anyone have any suggestions for alternative music players that don't get so bossy?

Well, there's always Songbird. It's still rather early in its development, but it works nicely. I'm using it on my Windows computer at work but they have versions for Mac OS X and Linux.

Windows Media Player 9 is pretty sweet. (kidding..)

If you don't need a library organizer, VLC may work well.

The nice thing about SongBird is that it is basically a music player and a browser in one. So when you access a site that has music using Songbird, like DI.FM for example, Songbird scans the site for music and indexes all of the music streams right underneath. Then you can put them in your library if you like. Rather interesting idea in my opinion.

Flash Fwd to the next build... songbird 0.4... what build was it in Nov, 2006 NixGeek? I'm using it today... my iTunes had a little playlist glitch... i have little patience and tried songbird... nice feel to it and imported everything with total ease!

And i feel better having just a little creative control over the feathers (skins).

I'll run with this for a while!

Oh gosh, I don't remember. I haven't used it in a while mainly because I've forgotten about it. I should test it out again now. I'm sure it's greatly improved since then.

I added the "now playing" add-on.

Great feature... (let's see this on the next release iTunes)... drag your songs to a "on the fly" playlist... then chose to save it or toss it if you want.

Default skin is nice... only problem it stalls a little after scrolling every 200+songs!... iTunes goes top to bottom with out the reload!

Give them time... it's a 0.4 build.

Try it out... Let me know.
