Tiscali broadband

I have recently bought my Mac off a friend. It runs OXX V10.1.5. I can't get online with Tiscali. Their support is non-existant. Has anyone got any advice for getting online with them or if anyone knows it can't be done I will revert to another supplier.
 
ditch the usb modem.
I use a wireless modem router, and tiscali.
That said, I wouldn't recommend tiscali. low bandwidth, high retention ratio, their customer service is atrocious.
unlimited, is not unlimited. they cut me off when they incorrectly charged my payments to someone elses account. There are a lot of other horror stories out there. utter crap.
I am changing provider when I move.
If you have a choice, don't use them.
(I can't afford to lose internet for the 10 day changeover period)
 
Could you advise me where to get a wireless modem router and how best to set it up (I'm new to Macs)? i.e. what does the Mac require in the preferences tabs to know where to log on to? I will try and get out of Tiscali however, I signed up to a year deal I think.
