My PowerBook titanium do not recognize CDs or DVDs anymore. When I insert a CD or DVD, it spins then gets ejected. I have tried to reset the machine, PRAM, etc. but nothing works. I have not found any information on the Web about a common and similar problem, Does anyone know how I could check if this is a hardware or software problem?
 
The drive may have went south. Launch with the original software install disk that has the Hardware Test on it and run a hardware test. If the drive is dead, you can get a new and even better one at someplace like OWC.
 
When my cd/dvd ejects all disk it is not possible to run a test from the apple hardware test cd. One other day I insert a dvd and it works, the following day it does not. This is why I think it is a software problem. I just have to try inserting the harware test cd every day and run the test when it accept the CD.
