To upgrade, or not to upgrade?

Hi guys,

This is my first time posting here, so go easy on me, and please let me know if I'm asking this in the wrong area.

The Basic story is that I have a MacBook that's almost 4 years old now and still running Tiger. Now I'm running on a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, with 2 GB Memory. I can't swing a new computer right now. So the question is, do I pull my money together to get Leopard or Snow Leopard, or do I just keep things as they are? (well maybe reinstall, the computer has been running a bit slow.)

Lately everything I see needs X 5.0 or higher. However while there are a few things I would like, there isn't anything I need and I'm not sure 2 ghz processor is high enough to run it?

Since I always believed that the more info the better, a little about what I do with my computer the most (feel free to skip). I am in a few classes, so I take my computer with me. In the classes I use Word, and a Audio Recorder. I sometimes play movies on it, and I read e-books. Other then that, mostly just normal web surfing.

Thanks for any help guys

Have a first gen.MBP,1.83 core duo,2gb.ram 250gb.HD. Runs OSX 10.6.5 with no problems and also runs Ubuntu 10.10 under Parallels .You should be able to upgrade with no problems.

I had the same MacBook (dual 2.0GHz, Core 2 Duo, but with 4GB of RAM [~3.3GB "seeable" RAM]), and it's more than up to the task of handling Snow Leopard.

Your computer will run either Leopard or Snow Leopard very nicely.
I'd recommend Snow Leopard simply because it is readily available and the upgrade cost is approx $30 depending on where you are.
Leopard install disks getting a premium price these days, just check ebay.
As a side nore: memory is pretty cheap today and always 'more is better'.
