Yup. I'm thinking switching to RWs: My 30-pack of CD-R has taken quite a dent. Then again, those 4x CD-RWs I have kinda are overshadowed by the 52x burner and the 48x media... maybe I'll stick with the faster burns... Ugh, I'm not sure. Too many options! :D

Same here; the CDs were a gift. I'm counting my RWs: 1... ok 2... ah 3. Well, I'm still off by 1 if I wanted XCode on a disc, but I usually just mount it and install.

Here I go; long live erasable media!

Btw.: You only have to burn number one. ALL of the other discs can be mounted later, and you can simply use the .pkg-Files on them to install the stuff.

However, I tend to burn them, anyway. CD-Rs aren't really expensive any more, are they...

Less expensive in US. Jason, start to buy your cds in 25-100 cd spindles, in the candyboxes they cost a lot less.. and I like having 2 kinds of cds: those for "everyday use" backups etc, and those hi-quality that HAVE TO last in time. The beta builds wouldn0t all go necessarily to that they have to last category.

Yeah, they aren't that bad in cost. For some reason Disc 1 had to be a CD-R for me, otherwise my Mac wouldn't boot into the Install. Hmm.

Speaking of install, the installer is a bit different: the initial boot screen, as well as the descriptions. The Read Me PDF on CD 1 no longer says Developer Release or seed version; could we be getting close to a GM?

Well, strictly speaking, we're getting closer to a GM from the first developer build until the GM build. ;-) ... However, I think there are still going to be a few builds.

Giaguara: I like to keep some of the beta builds. It's always fun to see those old build numbers handwritten on the CD-Rs after a few years...

rhale1: Do you mean from CD-RW it won't install? This shouldn't be the case, really. Does it boot, only not install?

It boots to the Apple screen, then nothing for, oh, a good 45-60 minutes. I got it installed, I just had to pull out a bright pink CD-R from a drawer.

P.S.: I also enjoy seeing the build numbers on cds after a year or two. I still have a 4K78 (before it was relabeled as GM) lying about someplace.
