So i goofed and downloaded too many fonts onto my mac and now it wont completely load the desktop, the pinwheel sits spinning forever. I was told that booting from a bootdisk then cleaning out the fonts would work. Only problem is i dont have a boot disk. My friend does have a mac although it's a newer imac probably running a newer version of os x (i'm on 10.3). Would a boot disk made from his computer be able to boot mine properly?

i thought safe mode was by holding down shift? i booted holding down shift and it didn't help.. is this different then holding down alt? i have 5000 fonts on my computer and someone said the reason it's hung up is that my system is trying to load them into memory

You thought correctly, pressing "shift" while rebooting should put you in safe mode.
Pressing "Alt" brings up a select boot drive screen.
