Track all files created during an app install

I would like to know if there is any OS X application that you can start, then install an app, run the app once and then turn off this tracking application and it knows where all the files went for the app you installed and any new files it created on first run.

I know I can find out what goes where for an OS X application made by apple, because of its' Receipts process. However, non-apple apps don't use this so how can I know what files are created and where they go?

Mad cool, Bobw!

Also, there's an insane command-line utility called 'lsof' that you might want to look into, depending on what you're trying to do.
