Trackpad button responding improperly?

I haven't noticed this when using a USB mouse, but when I use my trackpad recently, and click on a non-active window, it focuses on the window I clicked on and then immediately "minimizes" it into the dock.

Any ideas?
 
I've further noticed that the computer is simply interpreting single-click trackpad button events as a double click.

???

PS i'm using a powerbook G4 15
