Hi there just wondering as my mate just got a mac and has put alot of songs on his itunes and i wanted to now is there anyway i can transfer some of his music files to my itunes...
If you want to copy non copywritten material, just restart one computer while holding the T key, that starts it in TARGET mode. You'll see the firewire icon, yellow, on the screen. You can then use that computer as a firewire hard drive; connect to computer 2 via firewire cable.
If both machines a network connected, you can share your iTunes library. Look into iTunes Preferences/Sharing.
The iTunes copyright says that you can only have a limited number of registered devices (Macs, PCs, iPods; I think the limit is 5.) All registered devices are entitled to play downloaded material. Songs under the iTunes+ license, simple MP3s or grabbed audio CD tracks can be shared freely.
You are right, but that is not neccesary if you simply want to listen to the music from different machines. It is still neccessary to license your machines for your bought tracks, no matter whether you copy the files or play them remotely.
