Transfer speed to a flash drive

Hey!
I got this problem transferring info from my mac to flash drives.
I thought the problem was the old flash drive I was using, so I bought this new Kingston data traveler with 8 Gb capacity.
I try to copy this 350 Mb file into it and it takes about 3 minutes.
I know it's not the quality of the product, I tried it at my windows pc at work: around 30 seconds to transfer the same file.
I also have this WD portable hard drive, it works fine at my mac, less than 30 seconds to transfer the same file.
I already have formatted the flash drive to mac osx journaled, and is practically empty, just a couple of very light files.
Any idea what might cause the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks for the help!

You have not stated which model Mac you are using or whether you are using USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports. Having said that, I just conducted a test using a SanDisk 8 GB thumb drive formatted as HFS+ Journaled on my 2009 MacBook Pro. To copy a ~350 MB .dmg file from the computer to the thumb drive takes about 3 minutes. Copying the same file from the thumb drive to the computer takes about 15 seconds. Based on these tests, it appears that everything is normal on your system.

You should be very careful about comparing the time required for Windows operations to similar operations on the Mac. Windows is notorious for pretending that it has completed certain operations when it has not.

As for comparisons between hard drive and thumb drive--apples and oranges. Thumb drives are slow media. Hard drives are optimized for speed. Need I say more?
