Transferring files to MP3 player over USB

Hello,

I got an iGP-100 in the post today and everything's sweet except that when I transfer files over, a strange thing happens.

example: if I transfer a file called 01-song.mp3, a file called ._01-song.mp3 is also created on the mp3 player which is annoying 'cause i have to wait for the player to skip over these files in order to get to the actual songs. Is there a way of preventing this? btw i do "Eject" the player before disconnecting it from my iBook.

(I know I could open up a terminal and recursively remove all files beginning with a dot but this could be dangerous and it would also be an inconvenience.)

cheers!

The "._......." files are the resource forks that OS X uses sometimes. You can't prevent them from appearing when you copy the songs over to the MP3 player, but you can delete them one the files are already on the MP3 player.

Try using this piece of software to remove the "._" files from the MP3 player hard drive:

yeah, i was wondering why it wasn't happening when i'd only transfer a folder over. cheers for the url, i'll probably just write a shell/perl script for it though.
