trash: bug? feature?

spike

sometimes stupid
I havent checked it out fully yet, but....

If you move something into the trash and then move it out of the trash but onto another volume, it just moves it.

It doesnt copy it.

But it does remove it from its original place.

Does my description make sense?

I dont think it does, I will work out how to explain it better in a bit ;)
spike.

I'm not sure if this helps with what you're trying to get at, but:

The default behavior in Mac OS is to MOVE, not COPY.

As mentioned earlier, the default on OSX is to copy when moving from volume to volume. The only time this does not happen is when you move something to the trash. That is because the trash is located on each volume. However, when you drag something out of the trash, OSX behaves as if you are copying to another volume if you move it to a volume other that where it originally came from prior to moving it to the trash. i believe that is what you are describing.
I can not repeat this. I made a test file and dragged it to the trash. No matter which volume i moved it to it moved and did not just copy it. This is the behavior I would expect since Trash is located on every volume.
Hmm..
Sounds like a bug maybe.

Good Luck,:)
