Trouble after user name changed

hello all, i am a newbie in macbook and mac os x
recently i change my username according to this tutorial

and then i find my desktop cannot be accessed, i google and found a similar case.

i try to do as same as the above case but i still cannot fixed the problem.

i run ls -la in terminal and the result is as follow:

1. desktop is showing 501
2. abcdefg is my old user name
3. whitepig is my new name

anyone can teach how to fix? thanks!
 
Hi anfie.
There are two ways of changing the username, and which to use depends on the version of Mac OS X you are running.
Which version of Mac OS X are you running?
Did you use the method described first or second in that Apple KB?
The thread you found here is describing a fix that worked in 10.3. However your system is likely much newer.

So back to basics... system version, which syntax you used etc.
And is this on a new Mac? Or how long have you been using it? (It will be different if there are no personal files in it than if you've been using it for years)
Do you have the install discs that came with that Mac, just in case?
