trouble with appletalk

My company has quantum snap servers based on linux. All the macs use them through appletalk. I have the release candidate of osx. It will not communicate with the snap servers in any way. OSX will only communicate with the appleshare IP 6.2 servers. But all of this is only from the classic enviornment. In X I can't see the network at all.

I have the same issue with this set up:
can't see NT4
can't see cobalt server
can't see regular computer w/ file sharing on running os 8.6
It can see my win 2000 server!
