Unable to download BBC iPlayer

I am not able to download BBC iPlayer, nor ITV player, on my Mac OSX 10.3.9 computer. I heard an ugly rumour that the problem is my OS. What can I do about, please? Any advice, bar buying a new computer would be much appreciated!

To install BBC iPlayer Desktop, your account must have administrator privileges otherwise you will not be able to install it.

If your computer meets our recommended specifications - which includes running an Intel-based Mac - the BBC iPlayer pages should be able to detect what you need to install and guide you through the process.

BBC iPlayer Desktop is powered by Adobe Air (Adobe Integrated Runtime). When you install BBC iPlayer Desktop you also install the Adobe Air components.

From here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/install/ doesn't list the requirements too explicitly, as only requirement is "Intel based Mac recommended"... well - since Intel based Macs shipped with 10.4.3 as minimum OS, then you are out of luck :(

You could complain to BBC; maybe if there are enough users with an older Mac (10.3.9 is not THAT old, there are so tons of equivalent users of Windows XP... even if that's waaay older) they could do something.
Otherwise, you could try giving it a shot with an emulated Windows (or Linux) system.
VirtualPC http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6078 or
Q [kju] http://www.kju-app.org/ would enable you to use those OSes on your PPC Mac.
