I have the same problems as ken_ww I tried press PMU BUTTON AND IT DID NOT WORK. BEFORE THIS HAPPEN MY 1ST PARTITION CRASH AND I HAD TO USE THE USE ANOTHER DRIVE HOW DO I REINSTALL THE SOFTWARE ON A NEW DRIVE SO I CAN GET MY SYSTEM BACK UP

Do you mean to say that the button won't press? Or that it will press, but doesn't have the intended effect?

Insert your Mac OS X Install/Restore CD/DVD, then reboot your computer and immediately hold down the 'c' key and keep it held down until the computer boots from the CD/DVD. Then, follow the simple on-screen instructions and prompts to reinstall your system.
