Unable to Install Mac OS after repartitioning

I want to install 10.5 on my iMac but could not b/c there was an old BootCamp partition on the HD. So I ran Disk Utility and repartitioned to 1 partition of Mac OS Extended Journaled. When I restarted from the Install disk there is the red exclaimation point and the info says that I cannot install on the disk. Fortunately, I have a second HD firewired so that I can use it as startup disk. So, what do I need to do the the original disk to reinstall Mac OS?
 
OK, so I inserted the 10.5 install disk, it said the the HD had to be partitioned as a GUID Partition Table. I opened up the Disk Utility to repartition as GUID but GUID was not one of the options. How do I go about repartitioning as a GUID Partition Table? Thanks
 
Select your device you want to partition (not the indented partition itself below the device listing), then click the "Partition" tab. Select a suitable partition scheme (1 partition, 2 partitions, etc.) and then click the "Options..." button below the graphical representation of the partition map to change the partition map format (GUID, APT, etc.).
 
Thanks for the help. I was able to install 10.5 and am now in migrating the user settings and applications from a mounted external drive. I wouldn't have gotten it solved w/o your help.
