Unable to Open Files On Wmp

Hi ! I'm trying to open up a .wmv file on the WMP, but I kept getting this error message : "Cannot open the file. Verify the path & filename are correct and try again."

Since I downloaded this program, I haven't been able to open anything. Be it from the internet, or from a CD-Rom / VCD.

My OS is 10.4.

Help !!!

Has the WMV file been downloaded completely? Maybe it's not compatible. WMP is a pretty bad application.
