Unable to reinstall X

My 10.0.3 crashed during the update to 10.0.4 (using autoupdate). When I reboot into X, I see the spinning CD forever. I rebooted to 9.1 and wanted to reinstall X from the 10.0.3 CD....but in the installer of X, it doesn't see my harddrive! I did everything! Firmware update, first aid repair...nothing helps. I also can't reformat the drive because (shame on me!) 9.1 is on the same partition. Anybody got any clue how to solve this problem??? I WANNA HAVE MACOS X BACK......NOW! ;)

Sorry to say I've had the same problem with 10.0.3. The only difference was that I had OS 9 on a second partition. I can only tell you what I did after counless attempts to avert it:

I started from the 9.1 CD (you can start from OS X CD also) and reformatted the whole drive into two new partitions and strated from scratch...
