Hello, I am a sysadmin in a Windows network with just one Mac user; that means I'm not very skilled when it comes to troubleshooting MacOSX.
This is the problem: on this particular iMac it has become impossible to print on any printer from any application. The print dialogues throw out a generic "printer error" message.
I have uninstalled each printer and proceeded to reinstall them one by one.
The network printers installed fine, but they refused to work anyway (same error as before).
The locally attached USB printer refused to reinstall ("unable to add the selected printer: error 13").
At this point I tried to logon locally as "root" (I was logged with a "regular" admin account before) and everything worked fine: I was able to readd all printers and print from any application.
Logging back as the regular user (I also created a new user just to be sure) the errors were back.
I ran a "repair permission" task and it found minor issues which were fixed; the problem still was not solved.
At this point I'm stuck and I need your help.
