Unarchiving a ZIP

Hello All,

With all of this Leopard updates I did something quite silly. I used the finder Archive to backup my Pictures directory. Now I am unable to expand it for absence of disk space. Ok, this is no small archive (60Gb).

So I have checked to see if I can do a partial unarchive. In unix I found unzip but unfortuantely this command seems to fail on a file the size of mine.

Any suggestions which do not involve buying disk space?

Give "Unarchiver" a try. Freeby from the usual sources.

However, if you filled the HD, you'll need to move the file to en external 1st, then delete from your HD. (Otherwise, you'll be attempting to add MORE to the HD)

Maybe try a program such as "Forklift" or "Disk Order", which allows you to open a zip file without actually unarchiving it, then you can drag the file or files you want out of the archive package.
