Unexplained Crashes and Screen locks

Did you re-seat the RAM? How old is this machine? Did you install the RAM or did Apple?

When you re-installed the OS, did you wipe the drive and install or did you do an archive install which preserves your settings?

Did you re-seat the RAM?

i guess thats the next step ....I am re-running Rember right now...then I will

How old is this machine?

MacPro2,1 (i think that means it was a 2007...but probably late 2007)

--

Did you install the RAM or did Apple?

I installed several sticks of add on RAM from OWC bringing it from the default amount of RAM to 12 GB

wiped clean - totally fresh install

If your RAM passes the Rember Test, then I am not sure exactly what is causing the kernels unless it is a bad logic board.

Has this been happening just in the last two weeks, or has it been going on for a while?
Or did this start after you installed the additional RAM ?

The first obvious step is to remove all the added on RAM and put the machine back to its original configuration, with the original RAM on their original spots on the riser cards. You do know that the RAM has to be installed in a kind of specific sequence on the riser cards, right?

I installed this RAM right after I bought the computer and have been trouble free for the subsequent several years - so its hard to imagine it was installed wrong.

it started about 1.5 months ago

I first posted about it here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/92709-bsod-minidump.html

because it started when I was in W7 bootcamp and I thought it was windows (which i concluded it was not after installing fresh copy of W7 and still BSOD)

now im on a freash os x install so its really weird that I cant figure it out.

Faulty RAM can cause some really strange problems. I am with the other posters on this.
If you have a problem that can be RAM, then you can test your existing memory - but the most sure method is to replace your RAM. Third-party RAM will often have a lifetime warranty - so you can take advantage of that, eh?

another one this morning...(another odd thing...seems to happen every morning right after turning on computer than trouble free rest of day - not strictly - but mostly)

I will run apple HW Test now then reseat RAM and then .... ugg....do the recommended steps from OWC (told me to do these before asking for RMA:

Do you have the MacPro connected to a power outlet or are you just using the battery?
Is this the original battery? I ask because this time CPUPower Management is now mentioned in the panic report.

When you open the case to check the RAM some models have a light next to each 'seat'. If the red light is on, that means there is something wrong with the RAM chip itself. I am not sure if your model has that light. And a RAM chip can go bad after usage.

i have seen no red light on.

the computer is plugged to a APC battery backup so yes it is plugged in.

I just re-seated RAM and did every possible other tech procedure. will see how it goes now. ( did also just read allot of folks having "freezes" on 10.6.4 --- but that might not explain since this started on the windows side and has happend on several different OS)

Is the APC relatively new or does the battery need to be replaced? Try plugging it in the outlet direct or in a new surge protector strip for now and see what happens.
