unix host file and Panther?

BOTH
Hi Forum

I have tried to get my panther client to use a host file before resolving via DNS, but nothing seems to work.

In my netinfo DB the ff is before dns agent.

From the documentation of the resolv.conf file, you should be able to specify "lookup file" along side "nameserver x.y.z.v"

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

One thing to try is putting 127.0.0.1 at the top of your DNS servers in your network preference pane. I resolved my same problem this way.

nope that didn't help, and wouldn't that require that the local named process is running?

I'm still a bit puzzeled why changing order in resolv.conf doesn't work - that does the trick on any other unix system I have used.

I think I'll try the same stuff on a 10.2 installation.

Kind regards
