Unofficial driver for Epson 1220u?

I have an Epson 1220u scanner. Epson doesn't seem to have any plans releasing a driver for OS X. Is there any unofficial driver so I can use it in OS X?
 
It was not an Epson, it's a Umax Astra 1220u. Remembered wrong...

But I'd guess the answer applies to this one aswell.
 
Just a little hint: if you get stuck finding up-to-date drivers for an obscure device, do a search for its FCC number (the Federal Communications Commision license number is usually printed on the device somewhere) and find out the company that first licensed it.
Often you will find that a card, scanner, printer or other miscellaneous device is actually made by a completely different company, and is simply rebadged.
 
VueScan does not support the Astra's. I have one that can only be used in OS 9.
