Unprintable font?

Colonel Panic
Another thing that I ran into recently...

There is a font called CopperplateAB (or Copperplate31ab, something close to that) which seems to cause printing problems both for me and my father's Macs.

If I create an MS-Word document containing that font, the document simply will not print at all. You can choose the Print command from the menu, and it will appear to work, but the Print Center never even launches, and nothing prints.

Anyone else have this problem?

Is this a font that you need to use? Where did you get it.

I have 4 different Copperplate fonts, but not that one and they all print ok in Word.

The documents in question predate my father's OS X migration, so it is very likely just an obsolete font. Switching that font to another Copperplate variant corrects the problem. So it is not, in any way, a major issue.

The only reason I bring it up is the way the error is NOT handled at all; no error message, no crash - it just doesn't print ANYTHING. It was only a total shot in the dark that enabled me to figure out that that font was the source of the trouble.

I have to use Copperplate31AB all the time at work - never a problem. Sounds like something in the font itself got damanged.

If you have, or have access to, FontDoctor, run it. Otherwise, trash it and use a different style of Copperplate. OS X is pickier about fonts than OS 9.
