After our upgrade, it appears our server took a hit from the updated code. It is unknown to why we are seeing signficantly more issues with the database, but searches are taking 26+ seconds to perform. While this in and of itself is not horrible, it is horrible because it brings down our forums because of db locking and what not.
Although the upgraded VB 3.5 code is to blame for the sudden change in our search functionality, it was only a matter of time before the old version started having the same issue.
NEW POSTS is related to searches which is why you don't see either option. When I turn off these features, VB automatically removes them from the top menu.
I am currently reviewing what options I have available to me to hopefully improve the search times and load on the database. I will keep you posted.
