I have a Mac G4 733 MHz, 1.2GB RAM. Ever since installing Panther, I've been experiencing difficulties with Logic (pops, interruptions, etc.) and Finale has never been stable. Both have recommended updating to the latest driver for my PCI card.
I just did this, and all of a sudden, I'm getting no sound output. When I boot in OS9, I get output as usual, so it's not the hardware or the connection; it's definitely the new software driver from M-Audio.
I'm playing songs in iTunes so I know sound is being directed to the card.
Here is what I see from the M-Audio Delta Control Panel:
I can see dB levels on the Monitor Mixer in the Master Volume and "Software Out 1/2".
In the Patch Bay, for Analog Out 1/2 I can click on Software Out 1/2, Monitor Mixer, S/PDIF In, S/PDIF In rev. or Analog in 1/2. For S/PDIF Out I can click on SW Out S/PDIF, Monitor Mixer, S?PDIF IN, S/PDIF IN rev. or Analog In 1/2. None of these make any difference.
In "About" I see Driver version 2.0.2, Panel version 1.3.2, Build Number 243.
Curiously, in the "Card" section to the left, I see "AP2496" greyed out.
So I went to my Apple system profiler. Before the new driver update, I saw the card from M-Audio in my PCI slot. After the driver update, I see, instead, "pci1412,d634 " where as best I recall (but I could be wrong) "M-Audio" or similar used to be.
When I boot in OS9, I get output as usual, so it's not the hardware or the connection; it's definitely the new software driver from M-Audio interacting with my computer and operating system.
Can you help?
Cheers,
Larry
