For those who updated from 10.2.1 to 10.2.4, did you have any bad side effects. Any bad surprises. I'm using a 800mhz G4 powerbook purchased last October before the superdrive models came out.

Also, any positive experiences from the update?

recommend downloading the combo updater from Apple software downloads, it's a big download, 80 MB or so. I guess that's one downside, if you have a dialup internet. Some people report problems with battery life, but ymvv.

Nope, my old iMac took it all in stride and I haven't had any burps at all and I have some third party ram, a macally keyboard and a logitech mouse. All three supposedly can lead to kernel panics but I've been lucky, ,,,, so far that is.

As per DeltaMac I upgraded using the combo download - haven't noticed anything new (positive or negative)...

My PB still giving me reason to love it!

Battery life has never been great - but does seem to improve slightly with each new model - I'm now on my 5th PB ( having "switched" in November 2001...)

Nothing to fear in my experience - good luck!

I'll second (or third or fourth :) ) the combo update suggestion, and would add that when you do the upgrade, remove the battery from the 'book. My TiBook luckily survived the upgrade (before I knew any better), but my iBook is going to have to have its battery replaced. I've posted a bunch of details and links about this problem in this thread.

Aside from the battery problem, I haven't seen any major issues. Just the normal upgrade stuff - themes get whacked, webserver config gets reset.. that sort of thing. There's even some new goodies, especially regarding bluetooh and server connectivity..

i wanted to do an update from 10.2 to 10.2.3 and not 10.2.4 - but i didn't find it anymore last week on apple's site. so, 10.2.4 now on clean install and so far no probs. as long as sendmail works..
