Updating from OS9.1 to OS10.3.4

Hi.. I need some help.

I have the OS10.3.4 software and I am tryingto update my home machine with OS9.1 to OS10.3.4.

They told me to hold down the C button when I insert the disk but it cannot be read. I cant seem to load it.

Do I need a later version of 9 to update...

Can anybody help. I dont know macs that well

It sounds like the disc might be bad. Tell us, if you boot your machine up as normal, into OS 9.1, and insert the disc, does it read OK?

no it does not even come up on the desktop.. does that mean the disk is bad

Did you update the firmware? If I remember correctly, if the firmware is out of date the new OS will be ignored with no message.

The firmware update should be on the CD-ROM.
