Upgrade from 10.2 to 10.4

Hi folks

I have an old g4 base unit and last time I tried to upgrade from the 10.2 intallation to 10.4 it errored.

Is it possible to upgrade striaght from 10.. to 10.4 or do I have to buy 10.3 first then upgrade to 10.4?

I have a client who is using a G4 and Safari 1.3.2 and I am trying to mirror their environment so I can test their web site fully.

If you have the Tiger retail disc, you can install 10.4 without going to 10.3 first.

Thats what I tried previoulsy and it mucked up the install and I was getting all sort of screens with black text on them, which did not look too good!

So I thought there maybe a reason e.g. they want you to install sequentially?

Was the Firmware ever upgraded on the machine?

The 10.4 disc you have, is it a retail copy, or from another machine, or does it say upgrade on it?
 
Also make sure you're not doing the "Upgrade" option with the installer. Choose the "Archive & Install" option. Upgrading 10.2 doesn't really produce very stable results.
