Upgrading OSX 10.3.5 for free on apple.com for Iwork

I recently bought I'work for my Imac with OS X Panther 10.3.5 and when trying to install it realised it needed 10.3.6 or later! I've seen free download updates on apple.com but don't know if this is what I need, will I need to buy brand new Operating System?

Just use the Software Update faciliy of the System (Apple Menu) to have it updated for free to the latest sub-version (which is 10.3.8 for 10.3 if I remember correctly).

Once downloaded, just run it to update your machine.

Before updating, Repair Permisssions first using Disk Utility in your Utility folder, then boot off the 10.3 CD and use Disk Utility up in the Installer Menu to Repair Disk.
