Usb Bluetooth Dongle And Internal Bluetooth On G5

Hi guys,

I have a bluetooth headset with a very weak transmitter, and even when sitting right next to my mac, things such as leaning back in my chair or turning my head will mess with the audio quality quite dramatically.

To make up for this, I was thinking of getting a Class 1 USB Bluetooth dongle with 100 meter range, in the hope that the extra range on the dongle would compensate for the weak transmitter in the headset.

My question is, can an external dongle be used on a G5 that already has internal bluetooth? And if so, can I force my headset to pair with the dongle rather than the internal module?

There is a "Disable Bluetooth" button in system preferences, but as the USB dongle uses Apple's drivers, I thought that would probably turn both of them off.

Any help is appreciated.

The headset is a Blueant X3 Micro (www.blueant.com.au)

The G5 is the just superseded dual processor 2.0 G5, built in airport and bluetooth, 4 RAM slots, PCI only.

Thanks.

Emma
