Does anyone has some expeariance on running an external USB drive with own power supply around the clock, meaning 24/7/365?
Sure there are a lot of factors, but is there a general rule?
thanks!

Does it feel hot to touch? That's the only concern with cheap drive enclosures. The rule of thumb with hard drives is that unless you don't actually use them, running 24/7 is better than starting up every day.

gsahli,

It is warm, but not hot. You can easily touch it, without feeling uncomfortable.

Guess I will let it run and be prepared to find out the hard way....

thanks for your suggestion and advice.

As long as it's not in use 24/7, it should have a normal life-span. You'll save energy if you unmount it and turn it off.
