USB Hard Drive Not Recognised..

Hi,

I have recently bought a WD external hard drive for back-up purposes (http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=&level1=&prodid=&modelno=WDME2500TE&lang=en) and have had no trouble with getting it to work with my mac; everything is backed up. However, today I moved across a large amount of files from a PC (vista) and ever since then it appears that my Mac is not recognising the hard drive (despite coming up in system profiler and trying both USB ports). I am plugging it in directly too (not via a hub).

I also get this in disk utility:
Verify and Repair disk “JAMES BANKS”
** /dev/disk1s1
** Phase 1 - Read FAT
** Phase 2 - Check Cluster Chains
** Phase 3 - Checking Directories
Unable to read directory (Input/output error)
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 non HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error

Can you anyone help?

James

That looks like a job for Disk Warrior. What Info does Disk Utility provide on the external drive (DU > Disk Name > Info)?
