USB Problem with sony PSP and iRiver Mp3 Player

hi all.
previously ive connected my psp to the mac and its loaded up fine. And just a few days ago i tried connecting it and i cant see it in the side bar. Something is sceriously wrong with my g5, because when i connected it to my brothers g4 powerbook it detects it fine. and my friends pc.

I have also had the exact same problem with my iriver mp3 player. So i sold it and got myself a ipod. Now im worried that the ipod isnt going to last long

Any suggestions?
 
Are you sure that the USB port was good, as well as the cables? Did you try the back ports? Some computers can be more finicky about those kinds of things than others.
