USB Stick problem

I have a 16Gig USB stick which has suddenly become unreadable. Disk Utility sees it but won't mount it and will not let me administer first aid (verify and repair disk buttons greyed out)

There are a few files on there I would miss..anyone any ideas how to read the disk?

Per chance, is there a lock on the stick? Some do. Or, is it locked by software? Mount, Get Info, unlock. Otherwise, I've no idea.

No, no lock.

Unfortunately, I Cannot mount it. when I try, I have to force quit disk utility.

Ahhhh...Never thought I'd say this but 'PC to the rescue'. I tried it in a Windows machine and it read it! I'll transfer the files and reformat with a mac.
